Description:
Zoltán Kallós is the most prominent and successful Hungarian folklore collector of the 20th century. His collections of over 70 years encompass tangible and intangible values of the Hungarian, Romanian, Saxon and Roma communities of Transylvania and are invaluable in the preservation and promotion of European folk culture. He was crucial in the development and advancement of the Hungarian folk dance house movement - the so called Táncház method is listed as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Through the work of his foundation and museum Zoltán Kallós continues to play an essential role in transferring authentic folklore to younger generations.
