Description:
Conservation project of the coast of Cantabria to bring out its natural value by the creation of a protected area: dunes, seasides, rocky coast, marshes, archeological deposits, forest. In 1976, studies began aimed at the saving of a section of the Cantabrian coastline, threatened by development pressures. This process culminated in the declaration of the area as a national park by the Regional Government during 1988, and involved the production of a book and a television programme on the area. A considerable effort has been made since 1976 to defend the landscape value of the coast, with its beaches, fauna and vegetation, in the face of damaging developmental pressures.
