Description:
The Castle and the Park of Merville were built in the 18th century from 1743 to 1759 by Henri Auguste, Marquis de Chalvet-Rochemonteix, Sénéchal de Toulouse. The Marquis himself created the plans for his residence and the boxwood garden. The garden suffered due to the lack of maintenance for more of half a century. Likewise the alley suffered because of the lack of renewal of trees. The façades of the castle were restored, also the courtyard and the ground was stabilized. A portal was created for the garden, according to the plans of the 18th century. 2.500 boxwoods were replanted. The "Grand Rond Pont" with its basin was returned and the "Salle de Bal" was restored. Stabilized alleys were created.
