Description:
Professor Tomas Durdik has been doing intensive and comprehensive research of Czech castles and has coined the methodology and forms of present-day Czech castellology, highly estimated in ll-European context. Analyzing previous one-sided approaches to castle studies, Durdik has created a complex interdisciplinary methodology, enabling us a considerably closer and more plastic view at the reality of the Middle Ages period. He has pursued about 1000 on-site actions including 25 big archaeological research jobs; the Czech castles of Tyrov, Krivoklat, Jindrichuv Hradec, Vimperk, Poresin, Kamyk nad Vltavou, Zlenice, Orlik u Humpolce etc, saving thus quantities of historical sources and, making his research public in numerous articles and books. Professor Durdik teaches at four different Czech universities and is a member of many national and European expert committees.
