This research study is an important rediscovery and reinstatement of this intention to be part of the wider dimension of European culture and art, bringing it to the attention of the wider public”. “The collaboration with European partners has widened the researchers’ and museum’s network and created new opportunities for dialogue. The state-owned collection, previously accessible only to state officials and visiting dignitaries, has been made better known to a European public with some parts of the collection being publicly exhibited for the first time ever”.

Description:
The project `Research and Cataloguing of the State Art Collection in Belgrade` focused on the Fine Arts and aimed to inventory, research and protect an important part of the European cultural heritage which was previously not known to the wider public, and also never fully catalogued nor protected. The collection comprised of two entities: European art 15th to 20th century and Yugoslav art 1929-1970. The project revolved in the edifices of the State Art Collection in the Royal Compound in Belgrade and took nine years to complete: June 2006 – October 2015. At the end of this period all the main aims established at the beginning were fulfilled - the Fine Arts collection was fully inventoried, the extensive database was formed (both digital and analogue), the collection received the status of the National Heritage, its works were loaned to major European museums and the thorough catalogue of the fine arts collection was printed.
