The François Blondels Corderie Royale, built between 1666 and 1679, belongs to Rochefort's arsenal. It is 374m long and 8m breadth. The restoration of the rope factory began in 1972. Because of the big expenses, the restorations took place in three stages: the South section at first, than the North section and the Central section at the end. Restorations works included: new frame and new slate roof like they were in the past, cleaning the stone walls and cornices, restaurate or change the damaged component parts. Creation of new office rooms.
