Description:
This 16th century Renaissance building still exhibits some Gothic features in the street-side wing. The restored building may be considered as a lively illustration of the least six centuries of architecture. The techniques as well as the typical style of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Classicism and present-day construction, join here and complete each other harmoniously. The option was taken to combine two important aims: matching the program in a sufficient way, and preserving some very beautiful and historical rooms. Work done: -Restoration and cleaning of the facades and the arcade -Restoration of the chapel (the original decoration and ornamentation were repainted, the leaded windows were restored and replaced) -Restoration of the exterior and the interior ground floor of the president´s residence -The charity-workshop and the stables behind the cloister-building, were removed -New heating and bicycle sheds -A new building annex for the medical centre -Some very beautiful rooms were restored and preserved in the original state New function (100 study-bedrooms, 5 living-rooms, 12 offices, 1 medical centre, parking places, a large public garden,…)
