Over its years of existence many changes have occurred to the Colegio Mayor Arzobispo Fonseca, and extensive work was needed to safeguard this historic building. For this reason the present owners, the University of Salamanca, decided to fully restore this magnificent 16th century building and to adapt it for the use of distinguished university guests. The restoration included structural repair, improvement or replacement of services, increased fire protection and conservation of the plasterwork, floors and joinery.
