Description:
One of the last buildings of the late 19th century in Istanbul, situated between St. Sophia and the Blue Mosque, which had been fallen into extreme neglect and disrepair, was taken over by the Turkish Touring and Automobile Club. The mansion was completely gutted and rebuilt and serves now as a hotel. Complete restoration of the timber construction. To support the wooden structure, reinforced concrete has been used. The original shape of the rooms was kept, as well as the so called Harem staircases, the entrance and the floors. Instead of one additional staircase there were more bedrooms provided. New coloring of the facades. Furnishing of the rooms in original luxury.
