Description:
Monte (Mount) Arcosu consists of 3000 ha of the most relevant part of the Sulcis forest from a naturalistic point of view. The vegetation is dominated by forests of ilex, junipers, cork trees and carob-trees, covers the granitic pink rocks of Sardinia. In this area, together with an incredible vegetation, survives also the Sardinian deer (already disappeared in Corsica and included in the red book of endangered animals published by IUNC). Most of the houses and cottages inside the reserve have been renewed and are nowadays used as houses for guards and as guest-rooms. The nature reserve is opened to the public and several nature-hiking trails have been created.
