Description:
The restoration of a Cisterician monastery of Gothic style from the 13th century with enlargements from the 16th and 17th centuries, and opening it to the public for cultural tourism. Despite its very poor shape, it is one of the most complete monasteries in Europe (poor maintenance meant no damaging new interventions). The stone and roof structures were restored, as were the medieval hydraulic infrastructures. The gardens and open spaces were also renewed. Archaeological searches were carried out throughout prior to restoration actions.
