Description:
The Museum building dates back in 1639. It was a detached one-storey building, cubic in form and with a gable roof. its front facing the Strossmayer Square. lt represents one of the oldest examples of housing architecture of the curiae (simple mansion) type adapted to town Iife in a fortress. The building contained four rooms ( three of them vaulted), a kitchen, a big pantry and two wooden stables. Before the Town Museum was established in 1952 the building was the seat of the District Authorities of Karlovac. In 1952 the static reconstruction was carried out and all elements of late historicism were removed from the façade while the baroque elements were restored.
