Description:
The Abbey do Pelouro Axeito was originally an abbey, built in the 18th century and consisting of a main two storey building and annexes. Acquired in an advanced state of decay, it was converted into a centre for rural tourism, conferences and cultural activities. Partly collapsed, the complex was reconstructed with the help of a school for craftsmanship and adapted for its new function. In the main building a kitchen, dining room, tavern, library and facilities were constructed, whilst in the annexes apartments for residential or holiday use were built.
