Description:
At the end of the 19th century, Isaac Gosschalk designed a vast and richly-decorated building in an eclectic style. It was based on a ground-plan drawn up by national railway engineers. In the 1960 , the building was modernized and essential parts of its interior were changed to such an extent that they became unrecognizable. The once-proud main concourse wa reduced to a corridor. The current project restores the ground plan, the handsome concourse and the waiting rooms to their original state. An unique aspect of this project is the restoration of the papier stucco (papier maché) ceiling.
