The mechanical forge was established in 1804. During three years the complete establishment including adjoining buildings and living quarters was thoroughly reconstructed and transformed into a small museum. This was not pure restoration: ´re-built` has been necessary in parts. Work done: - machines reparation (forge, master wheel, forge-hammer, hammers, waterwheel, turbine, tools) - tolls-shop restoration - new turbine building, including a new timber frame The hammer mill museum is now a fascinating example of industrial archeology. In south Germany no other comparable forge exists anymore.
