Description:
Castle Kranichberg, first mentioned in 1200, was for many years the summer residence of Vienna's archbishops. In 1979 the new owner started with renovation and adaption of the castle and other buildings of the ensemble surrounded by a medieval wall. The whole complex was faced with demolition. After renovation the new building harmonises well with the original. The buildings serve the new function with all necessary comfort. The interiors were equipped with mainly old furniture. The attention to detail is admirable. The complex is now used as a hotel and conference centre.
