Description:
Renovation of historical buildings, parks and gardens. The Rapitan Fort has been renovated for multiple uses: tourist attraction, provincial and regional activities. Works done: - rehabilitation of the old established network - replacement of the damaged areas from the cover - new distribution of the rooms, babbles, bad and satellite stations - realization of new installations of pipelines and electricity - replacement of a grand part of the exterior cabinetwork - reparation of the walls and entrance door - renovation of the varnishing and painting - since 1980 restoration of the stocked powder, bastilles, loophole, and stone pavement. San Miguel Bridge: Roman style bridge built at the beginning of the 13th century and formed part of the international route to Santiago de Compostela, which led the way to France. In 1942 the city of Jaca declared it as a National Monument. Works done: 1939: reparation of: the third arch, fundaments and adjust of the pavement. 1949: reparation of the parapet 1981: reparation of parts of the walls Cathedral of Jaca: this is the oldest cathedral in Spain and was built in the 11th century. Works done: - reparation and strengthen of the roof covering - demolition of bricks arcs - maintenance of the walls with metallic rods with tensors - water proofed with planks - restoring the stones on the roof - general reparation of the cornice - corbelling of the central nave Jail Tower: Built in the 13th century, destroyed by a fire, was rebuilt over the remains in the 15th century. It has been turned into the headquarters for the community of the Pyrenees but at the same time conserving its true character. Works done: - conservation of the interior and exterior aspect of the tower - improvement of tower's stability - facility for different used: museum, exhibitions rooms, teaching… San Pedro Castle, today known as the Fortress of Jaca: it was the old capital of Aragon. Was built in 1559, has had overall restorations: - demolition and covering of a dovecote - 4.000m2 tiled floor in the courtyard - 2.000m2 of tiled floor in ten casemates and its entrances - rebuilt of 150m2 battlement with originals stones - rebuilt of the parapets (1.350m length - 1,5m height), dismantle and restoration of the originals building stones - rebuilt of the coated way - restoration of 16 lodges - demolition of three stores - restoration of the powder tower - - cleaning of powder tower ventilation's room - cleaning of the paintings in the courtyard - installation of a little museum of the ancient guard - demolition of a lot of walls and terraced houses - lighting of exterior and interior All the buildings were restored with funds raised by the municipality of Jaca.
