Later on the building became the Chapter legal seat, and subsequently in the 19th c. became military catering quarters. It is only a few years ago that the national and regional authorities together with the City of Chartres undertook to save it from advanced degradation. The building is now used as cultural and artistic centre mainly concerned with stained glass window work. The entry contains also: Restoration of various buildings in the Conservation Area, restoration of The Royal Porch at Cathedral of Chartres, construction of the Department Office and a monument.
