Description:
Progressive collieries, workshops and buildings for workers (e.g. hospital) were built in 1816, closed 1950 and dilapidated until 1970. They represent one of the first examples of town-planning of the Industrial Revolution on the European continent. Architect Guchez saved the complex from demolition by purchasing it himself. Complete restoration of the complex and adaptation to the new various usages. The buildings serve now as cultural centre with offices, galleries etc.
