Description:
The Slowacki Town Theatre is one of Krakow's greatest monuments of the 19th century. During the many years of use its structure was severely damaged by transformations, innovations and decay. The coming celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Theatre stimulated however its restoration and modernization. The work started in 1986. It included the creation of the necessary additional space in a underground two-storey structure. The orchestral pit became transformable, the auditorium was rebuild, facilities were renewed and a new air-conditioning system, a new heating-system and a computerized modern light and sound equipment were installed. The interior has been cleaned and renovated.
