Description:
The Tower of Belém is one of the most important historic monuments of Portugal. Its exterior Conservation Project, coordinated by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, World Monuments Fund and its Portuguese Association, was carried out in two phases. From November 1993 until January 1994: a state of conservation survey, its documentation, analysis of deterioration problems, testing of cleaning methods and conservation materials. This phase was followed by the execution of the Conservation Project (February 1997-January 1998).
