Description:
The restoration of an Art Nouveau market building (1916), closed int 1985 and in a very dilapidated state. The project involved extensive restoration and stabilisation of the structure (brick ends and cast iron and glass hall structure) while providing 4 new underground levels, 3 of which for much needed parking. The ground level market remains spatious, open and light, with new commercial spaces enclosed in glass boxes spaced out down the 2 sides of the market. The renewed market has revivied the area providing much needed commercial and service activities.
