Description:
The historic farming hamlet of Chyvarloe and its surrounding land lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on the south west coast of Cornwall and is entirely owned by The National Trust. Chyvarloe stands prominently on the skyline and, when aquired by the National Trust in 1974, was spoilt by inappropriately sited farm buildings, unsympathetic repairs to vernacular buildings, intrusive overhead cables. The farm units were uneconomic and public enjoyment restricted. Many of the traditional buildings at Chyvarloe are listed Grade II. The policy has been to restore Chyvarloe´s historic and landscape qualities whilst providing for viable, family farm units, public enjoyment and a thriving community.
