Description:
The house was built in 1925 in Art Deco style by the Architect Adrien Blomme as a residence for the Wielemans family. At the beginning of 20th century in Brussel, the Art Deco movement expressed the attitude of a modern and entrepreneurial bourgeoisie. Architect Blomme planned for his client, the owner of the Wielemans-Ceuppens brewery in Forest, a mansion with modern open floor plans and stunning decor. He also took into account his client's passion for Spain and drew the inspiration for his first sketches from the Alhambra in Granada. The garden and the the terrace are also influenced by the Andalusian architecture. In 1994 Wielemans Hotel as well as its garden have been listed by the Historic Monument and Sites Department of the Brussels-Capital Region. For several years the building was home to the CIVA (International Centre for City, Architecture & Landscape). In 1997 the Generali Company acquired and restored it.
