Completion of six years landscape conservation through the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB Project) and development of a new approach to the integrated management of cultural landscape. The "Island 2000 Project" consists of 75 practical landscape projects completed in an area of 190 square kilometres. In 1999 was planned an expansion of the work over 380 square kilometres in the following three years.
