Description:
Complete restoration of a Bishops palace and conversion into a museum. In 1520 the Bishop of Troyes built a building running parallel to the nave of the cathedral. In 17th century a second building was built perpendicularly to the cathedral. The magnificent staircase was built in 17th century. During the Revolution the building protected the Bishop, and was then used as a hospital for soldiers. In 1909 it housed some regional services. Now it houses the Levy Collection, an impressive collection of art works. The restoration carefully washed all the masonry, replaced some stone-work, removed an addition to the rear façade, repaired frames, discovered and restored carriage gate-ways, paved the central courtyard and restored the interior to its former dimensions.
