Description:
In 1973 a conservation program was started. The selected area for study and pilot action was Bridgegate Area, a small neighborhood of neglected and run-down buildings. The revitalization of the Bridgegate Area has been an exercise in rebuilding public confidence and the achievement of a lively city area. Different buildings as residential houses, three churches, etc. have been restored and converted to new use for dwellings, shops, public centers. With the same care, the buildings were treated the surrounding was designed - with new paving, streetlight, playgrounds, plantings, gardens.
