Description:
The present College was founded by King Henry VIII in 1546. Following the restoration of the Wren Library at Trinity College between 1968 and 1971, an intensive programme of repair, conservation and improvement to the remaining historic buildings was commissioned in 1973, based upon a detailed Survey Report prepared in 1972. The final phase of 18 years of continuous work was completed in May 1991. The basic restoration team has remained unchanged throughout. Site works have involved skilled work in all trades; especially upon stonework, timber problems, leadwork and specialist conservation techniques. Particular emphasis has been placed upon preventive repair and the establishment of facilities and documentation for future regular maintenance.
