The Bodleian Old Library Development (BOLD) Project has laid the foundations for the continued use of the Library, in operation since 1548, in the 21st Century. Through a scheme of repair, refurbishment and conservation, within an appropriate conservation philosophy adopted for this Grade I Listed Building, the fabric of the building has been maintained to the highest standard. The facilities available to the readers have been modernised. lmproved internal environmental conditions have benefited the users and will help to conserve the extensive collection of rare books and manuscripts, some dating back to the 15th Century.
