Description:
Windsor Castle was severely damaged by fire in 1992, and its successful Restoration was completed in 1997. A programme of immediate salvage and protection led to the restoration of seven severely damaged Stateerooms and the Royal Kitchen alongside the sympathetic re-creation of areas totally destroyed. Historical discoveries and salvaged fragments bave been painstakingly reincorporated and matched and superb craftsmanship is evident throughout in constructional timberwork, elaborate plasterwork and finishes. Following careful research, redecoration and refurnishing have been accurately achieved. Work was completed within programme and budget, in time for the Golden Wedding Celebrations of H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh.
