For six decades the estate lying on the picturesque hillsides of Somogy had a role unworthy of its former rank. Marietta Soóky and her husband Csaba Nagyházi, gallery owners blessed with great taste have discovered the beauty in the almost disappeared property. They dreamt of having their family’s summer residence here. The partially cellared, single-storey late-baroque castle of rectangular plan was built around 1760-80. The original interior spaces and facades are now entirely restored. All parasitic walls have been eliminated. The furnishing is also worthy of the surroundings -thanks to the new owners being well-known art collectors. A heartwarming surprise of the conservation process was the discovery of mural paintings by Dorfmeister in most of the rooms. These paintings got restored by distinguished specialists. The peculiar exterior decorations, the discovery of the never known Dorfmeister fresco-collection, and the returned original use make this “Castle Resurrection” singular in Europe.
