Description:
Interior restoration and refurbishment of the villa. Marble Hill was originally built for Henrietta Howard, mistress of George II. The restoration of this textbook example of English Palladian villa was begun in 1965 by the historic Building Division of the Greater London Council prior to its opening as an historic house museum in 1966. Over the past decade, continuing restoration has resulted in the rediscovery and reinstatement of lost paintings and furniture originally commissioned for the house, and the refurbishment of the third storey. The latter opened to the public on 25th August 1988.
