Description:
The Monastery of St. Katharina is a monument of national importance: a cloister from 1504-07, a library hall and two staircase towers from 1614 with precious ceilings and floors. The building is an important part of the Late Gothic architecture in Switzerland. The old substance of the building could be saved from demolition and restored for the new usage, partly by removing non original additions and adding the needed facilities in a harmonious way.
