Description:
Karlsborg Fortress is situated on the cape in the Vättern Lake in the south of Sweden. The 678 m long retrenchment, built between 1846 - 1866, is one of the longest buildings in Sweden. The Fortress is one of the most impressive military buildings in the country, not only because of its size but also of its skilful architecture. The comprehensive restoration had the purpose to adapt the interior of the building to present-day requirements as a military training centre while preserving the character of this remarkable building.
