Description:
Restoration of a remarkable Danish manor house. Stenalt manor was built in 1800 as a replacement for a late middle age courtyard building by earl Preben Brahe Schack , a cosmopolitan aristocrat who wanted a new manor house in " Italian" style. He contracted a Jutland builder but exercised great personal influence on the design of his house. During the next 200 years Stenalt had several owners. In 1990 it was bought by new owners, who had to restore the manor while adapting it into a modern home of high standards. Extensive work started, including structural repair, replacement of the roof, restoration of the plasterwork, the windows and the big main staircase and restoration and refurbishment of the interiors. The project was supervised by the Danish Planstyrelse.
