Description:
Consolidation and restoration of an 18th century summer villa in Herculaneum. Today the villa has been given back to the Neapolitans as a center for concerts, shows, plays and other important cultural events. The first task was to eliminate the unnecessary added volumetries and the internal partitions, which had altered the original room plan. Work then proceeded with the consolidation of the load-bearing structure, carried out mainly in respect of traditional building techniques so as not to alter the original structure of the building. Moreover, the restoration work was carried out with absolute respect for the accepted theories of restoration with a view to preserving the authenticity and integrity of the monument.
