Description:
"Abelines Gaard" is a wreck receiver's farm dating from 1830. It owes its name to the daughter of the original owner. The farm was in the ownership of one family for approx. 150 years. lt was built by the owner using local tradesmen and largely driftwood from shipwrecks. The name wreck receiver's farm tells of the time when the owner had a duty to put up shipwrecked sailors and to help in the sale of salvage. The rush for the thatched roof, the sun-dried bricks and the hand-fired red bricks for the facades are all local materials, supplemented by materials from the shipwrecks.
