Description:
Restoration of a 15th century Scottish tower house, with later extensions and alterations to a modern home, removing extensive Georgian additions. Much of the work was undertaken by the owners. They decided to rebuild the early 17th century silhouette of the castle. The original stone walls were repaired and became an inner wall layer built in a locally manufactured brick, thus retaining the original shape and proportions of the rooms. A revealed 15th century fireplace was restored, two uncovered guardrobe chutes used for modern technical supplies, roof re-slated with stone slabs. Landscaping with gardens, a small water course and orchard.
