Description:
Restoration and upgrading of a large 1895 theatre, which had undergone conversion to a cinema in 1961 and suffered blast from bomb attacks, to opera, ballet and music hall. Restoration of the two main facades with scrolled gables and a central pediment set between onion domed minarets. Cleaning of brickwork and cast stone ornamentation. A new steel framed stage tower was built and a new bar extension on first floor suspending over Victoria Street. Windows, lantern and cupola ventilator were remodeled, emergency exit doors follow original door design. Internal remodeling of entrance hall, building of a new main staircase, upgrading of the stage for modern theatre requirements.
