Description:
Complete restoration of the old Garth Pier dating from 1896, which was closed to the public in 1971 due to the dangerous state of the structure. The Pier is one of the few remaining examples of a true Victorian seaside pier, as an engineering structure it exemplifies economy in the use of materials and high standards of workmanship. The promenade deck has no structures on it apart from a number of small kiosks and one small pavilion. Restoration of the pier from the four ornamental gates to the landing stages. New steelwork and supporting structures were prefabricated on site including Victorian kiosks.
