The purpose was to preserve in an adequate way against unexpected or thoughtless actions everything of value in the architectural heritage. - maintenance, improvement or renovation of existing buildings, both public and private - improvement of the surroundings or of the living conditions in the old city quarters: re-pavement of the old streets and re-pavement into pedestrian areas - creation of new social housing facilities in old quarters
