Description:
The Sala della Musica is situated in a wing of the Ospedaletto, the smallest of the four great Venetian hospitals. The ceiling and the end wall of this elegant oval room were frescoed by J. Guarana in 1776-1777 within a decorative architectural scheme by Agostino Mengozzi-Colonna. The restoration of the frescoes was preceded by extensive work on all parts of the whole building and endoscopic and microclimate surveys of the room itself. The work, which began in 1987 and finished in 1991, was directed by the Superintendency of Monuments of Venice.
