Description:
The water tower was built from 1868 to 1872 in the center of the city Cologne by the English engineer Moore. At that time the water tower was the highest tower in Europe with its diameter of 34 m and height of 35,5 m. The tower was divided into ten main levels and two intermediate levels which were determined by the location of the window openings. It was reconstructed in its original height and its original design. The restaurant floor which is arranged on the top of the existing building structure, slightly set back from the façade, is new. In the "Hotel im Wasserturm" there are about 350 original paintings from artists like Worhal, Baselitz, Immendorff, Penck and Vasarely. Paintings by contemporary artists decorate not only the public areas of the hotel, but also the guest rooms.
