Description:
Rebuilding of a monastery dating from the late 13th century and conversion to municipal library. The building so was badly damaged in WWII that only the exerior walls survived. The remains of the convent have been preserved and missing sections have been carefully reconstructed using old plans. New building materials have been selected to combine well with the old. Modern installations for an up-to-date use. The library provides up to date facilities and caters for 600,000 visitors per annum. A café and other amenities are provided in the basement.
