Description:
Pedraza is a walled town in the Province of Segovia. It has a long history, and since 1100 it has been head of the district "Community of town and Land", concentrating local administrative, political, social and religious activities. The mediaeval character of Pedrazza has been preserved by ensuring that when old buildings are restored or new ones built, the prevailing style is maintained, with the use of basic materials (stone, wrought iron and Arab tiles) being obligatory. The old jail, built into the town gate, was restored and transformed into a conference and meeting venue. The castle, a 16th century reconstruction on the remaining of a roman castle, was from the 1920's on the home and studio of the painter Zuloaga, whose family maintains the museum in the tower.
