Description:
An agricultural and environmental improvement project involving an area of some 15 square miles. The catalyst was provided by agriculture which had suffered for centuries from heavy floods of the Reuss. Aims of the project: - flood protection, - promotion of agriculture and forestry, - conservation and shaping of landscape, - safeguarding groundwater supply, production of power, - land consolidation, - improvements of old buildings, building rationalization and resettlements including tracks and canals. The project is an important contribution to the protection of nature. In addition a typical Argovian house was restored and serves as information centre, which also offers conducted tours on: - landscape management, - recreation areas, - preservation of villages and townscapes, protection of nature.
