Description:
Illschwang is a medieval village with characteristic small farming structures. The village's heritage was seriously at stake due to economic changes leading to giving up farming, migration, abandoned buildings and permanent loss of valuable structures. The village renewal programme comprised extensive science-based research into historic types of construction and design as well as into social and economic features of the village. Common and social activities contributed to the strengthening of village identity and to the revitalisation of the old village.
