Palacio de Sobre Ribas is a Renaissance mansion consisting of two bodies connected by an arch across a street. One of the buildings, Casa de Torre, originated in the remodeling and enlargement of one of the town's medieval wall towers, probably in the second decade of 16th century was bought by the State in order to be restored and houses now the Archeology Institute of Coimbra University Arts Faculty. The Palace was in very poor condition and extremely detailed and careful restoration was carried out. The building's original features were retained both inside and outside. Strict restoration of doors, iron work, flooring with traditional terracotta tiles and complete restoration of the eaves. Essential facilities were provided.
