Description:
The Shee Alms House was built in 1581 'to accommodate twelve poor persons' (6 male and 6 female) who depended on the charity of the Shee family. In the 20th century the house was used as a store. Restoration of the building to its original form and shape, but also taking account of the major developments, particularly the late 18th century, when the inmates were given separate little compartments. Reinstatement of the original timber roof, restoring walls, new ground and first floor, based on medieval construction details. In addition modern installations had to be provided.
