Description:
Restoration and adaption of the former Covent Garden Central Market building for use as a centre containing restaurants, speciality shops and galleries. Old building opened in 1830, roofs built 1875 and 1888. There should be as little delay as possible between the closure and the reopening of the building in its new use, therefore the work was carried out in three stages of restoration: 1975 clearing away, 1976 roofs restoration including the original colour scheme, 1980 adaption to shops and offices. New fire regulations were necessary.
